Injuries happen and it’s important to take care after an injury when returning to exercise. It’s something I am often asked about as a personal trainer.


Rehabilitative exercise following an injury is an important part of your recovery. You may need to be patient and rest for a while.

Rest is a crucial part of recovering and allows your body to heal. It can however result in muscle weakness and a loss of bone mass. This is where it’s important to look at rehabilitative exercise.


Listen to your body


The correct exercise following injury can help you get moving fully again. It’s important to listen to your body here and not rush things.

You’ll find that rehabilitative exercise has lots of benefits, including promoting healing, easing pain, increase strength and mobility, and improving mood.


Now of course we all lead busy lives and exercise may be the last thing we want to think about following an injury, but it’s important not to skip it. You will recover quicker and better by doing rehabilitative exercise and save yourself problems in the longer term.
